8 Days - 7 Nights Sailing Trip to North Crete
Sailingtrips.gr with this 8 days-7 nights sailing trip is giving you the chance to explore the best part of North Crete, either with shared or full yacht charter, which is suitable for couples, singles or party of a small group, who are interested of exploring North Crete through both, sea and main land.
Each day will sail in a different location and enjoy swimming in magnificent sea waters and discover the wild beauty of main land, as well as traditional way of life.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Saturday
Heraklion City
Trip will start from Heraklion, the biggest and central city of Crete and only 7mim away from Heraklion airport by car.
First night is actually a sleepover in Heraklion.
Meeting point will be Marina Café , right next to marina, around 16.00 and from there our skipper will escort you to the boat.
A few words about the trip, safety and security matters needing attention before sailing.
There will be plenty of time to get supplies and enjoy a walk around the city of Heraklion, since marina is very close to the city center.
For dinner we suggest Peskesi restaurant.
Day 2 - Sunday
Agia Pelagia bay and Bali village.
Trip starts around 10.00 for first destination, Agia Pelagia.
Swim stop at Fylakes beach, which is a hidden beach, accessible mainly by sea with green clear waters.
Lunch on board (included) and trip continues heading to Bali, a small village by the sea, where will spent the night.
Free evening to walk around the village or even enjoy evening swimming on its sandy beach.
For dinner we suggest Akrogiali, where you can taste local fresh fish.
Day 3 - Monday
Marathi Beach.
Prepare for 3,5 hours sailing to reach Marathi beach which is close to Chania city.
Reaching Marathi, will pass from small island Souda which is historical significance. Now is considered as NATO military zone, that’s why there are specific days which is accessible for the public. Swimming around the island though is not forbidden and this would be a perfect spot for a swim stop.
At Marathi beach you can continue swimming and enjoying the sea, since its south orientation helps enjoy the sun until late evening. Opposite to Marathi beach, there is a rocky islet that you can reach even if you swim there. Its waters are famous for diving experiences.
For dinner we recommend Patrelantonis tavern right next to the main beach.
Day 4 - Tuesday
Thodorou island and Chania
Sailing starts around 10.00 towards Chania.
Could not miss the chance to visit by sea, famous Seitan Limania with three parallel narrow coves well protected from the waves. The most famous and magnificent beach of this area is called Stefanou beach.
Next swim stop is small Thodorou island.
After swimming , heading to Chania. The boat will anchor at the old port, which is right in the heart of the city.
Enjoy your evening by exploring the old town of Chania, with its small alleys and the famous Venetian lighthouse.
For dinner we recommend Tamam restaurant.
Day 5 - Wednesday
Rethymno.
Some extra morning time to enjoy beautiful Chania city and buy your last souvenirs.
Trip will start around 13.00 and sail 5 hours to Rethymno. As previous, the boat will anchor very close to city center, where you can either relax or discover the old, influenced by Venetians, town of Rethymno which is also architecturally interesting.
For dinner we recommend Raki BaRaki.
Day 6 - Thursday
Patsos Gorge – Plakias village.
Get prepared for one of the best hiking experience in Crete.
Only 18km away from Rethymno, is the stunning, with dense vegetation and crossing river, Agios Antonios or Patsos Gorge.
Gorge can be crossed with easy hiking and after 5km ( about one hour hiking) will reach the small church of Agios Antonios, which in ancient times used to be sacred cave dedicated to Kraneos Ermis(Hermes).At the end of this path, there is waterfall falling into the cave. Since, be close to nature helps to whet the appetite, tavern which is very close to Agios Antonios church is the best spot to taste traditional Cretan plates, only with local products.

After this amazing experience in wild nature, the trip continues southern, for a swim stop in Plakias village with its endless sandy beach.
Back to Rethymno where you can relax on board, or have a last walk or dinner in Rethymno city.
For dinner we suggest Prima Plora restaurant, where you can taste Mediterranean modern cuisine or sushi.
Day 7 - Friday
Dia Island Heraklion
Begin to sail towards Heraklion.
Swim stop in Dia island.
Dia is a small island opposite Heraklion with turquoise, crystal clear waters, where you can enjoy snorkeling, swimming or just relax at the small bay of St. George.
Lunch on board (included).
During sunset will sail back to Heraklion, between orange and blue colours.
Last sleepover on board in marina of Heraklion.
Day 8 - Saturday
Heraklion.
Disembarkation at 10:00 am.
